“As if some Caravan of Sound / Off Deserts, in the Sky, / Had parted Rank, / Then knit, and swept- / In Seamless Company-, writes the American poet Emily Dickinson (no. F334/ 1862/ 321). Light and sound are two phenomena that frame and shape our world. They are also the two phenomena that give it its meaning. Now they come together in Across the World: Worm Storm project.
This subtle, technologically advanced installation brings the echo of a real life to the otherwise sterile gallery environment. It gives voice to those we don’t normally hear or see – the underappreciated earthworm ecosystem, without which the general one, planetary one could not exist at all.
An unidentifiable soundtrack reminiscent of an approaching storm is multiplied by visual resonances. Sound becomes movement. It can be a warning, a reminder of eternity, or a simple invitation to dialogue. What kind of world do we want? For whom are we creating it? Who do we share it with? The Czech Collective proposes a space in which poetry and critical discourse strive for the same thing – overlapping and intertwining in the cohesive whole of the seamless society we have all dreamed of for so long.”
