about

Interactive sound object – container of sounds recorded in the city is focused on a topic of circles, time and distance of human surrounding. OR-bits acts as an alternative sound sequencer where gravity, magnetism and inertia took a place in sequencing process. The main sound material are field recordings made during the workshop. Pendulum moves above the sensors and triggers the selection in bank of pre-recorded sounds. Each imaginary orbit consists of sound recorded in proportional distance from selected installation space. The sonic structure is open to creative collaboration of visitors. Understanding the question where I stand what is around me and what I am doing here is the crucial part of the „Or-bits“ installation. Discovering new principle of interaction and controlling the sound is important part of the project.

principle

Pendulum with the LED light is freely moving above 15 light sensors (LDRs). Each sensor represents one spot in the city where was made a fieldrecording. Once the pendulum crosses the sensor it triggers the playback. Accelerometer in pendulum controls the parameters of synthesizer playing in background of field recordings. Installation is running on Teensy microcontroller and needs just one power socket. People can interact with the pendulum and explore the sounds.
